Health and Safety Management Systems

Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSAS 18001 & ISO 45001)

Are you ready to migrate to ISO 45001:2018. Are you happy with that your current Health and Safety policy meets the need of current legislation? Do you need an external opinion to verify that you are compliant? One way is to integrate the ISO 45001 into your existing Business, Quality and Environmental Management Systems.

The ISO 45001 Standard specifies requirements for an OH&S management system to enable an organization to develop and implement a policy and objectives which take into account legal requirements and measures to control the OH&S risks identified from potential hazards in the workplace.

ISO has developing just published a new occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system standard (ISO 45001) which is intended to enable organizations to manage their OH&S risks and improve their OH&S performance. The implementation of an OH&S management system will be a strategic decision for an organisation that can be used to support its sustainability initiatives, ensuring people are safer and healthier and increase profitability at the same time.

The new ISO 45001 standard will adopt the same Annex SL format of the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 so many of our clients are already incorporating the draft requirements into their Integrated Management System to be ready for transition during the next surveillance audit. The standard was published on the 12th March 2018 with a three year migration period, so all holders of the OHSAS 18001 will need to migrate to the ISO 45001 Standard by March 2021.
