Benchmarking

The Company Health Check service involves benchmarking your company against some of the largest SME databases in the world. It identifies how competitive your company is across a range of business functions and metrics including profitability, marketing, operations, innovation, productivity and human resources.

It examines the practices in place and the performance being achieved from those practices by;

  • measuring your company’s performance compared to the competition.
  • identifying strengths and weaknesses of your company.
  • acting as a springboard for improving your competitiveness and growing your business.

The company health check can benefit companies that are

  • Embarking on a Lean Business initiative and need some help in identifying what parts of the business need to be worked on first and to develop an action plan.
  • Companies that are embarking on a review of their strategic plan or
  • Companies who want to comply with the Context of the Organisation requirement in the 2015 versions of ISO 9001:2015 and ISO14001:2015 standards or
  • Companies who just want an independent review of the company’s strengths and weaknesses.

Company Health Check (CHC) – Benchmarking for Success

CREM Ltd can facilitate you to benchmark your company, using tools developed through Enterprise Ireland support, against a database of European companies in your sector by working with you to undertake a Company Health Check (CHC).

How is it carried out?

picture illustrating the elements of benchmarkingAn Enterprise Ireland accredited benchmark facilitator will visit you and work with a small team within your business for half a day to capture practice data. You will also need to provide management and financial data. Your data is protected with the utmost confidentiality. The facilitator will then compare your results against the international norms and prepare a feedback report for you.

What are the outcomes?

The feedback report establishes your company’s competitiveness against international standards for your sector and scale of business. It makes detailed comparisons with like companies and suggested actions to improve performance.

Many companies use the Enterprise Ireland Company Health Check to identify and prioritise problem areas in their business. Following a programme of activities to address issues identified in the Company Health Check, you can repeat the benchmarking process to monitor improvements in performance.

What funding is available?

The cost of this service can be funded under the Enterprise Ireland Strategic Consultancy Grant, up to 3 days for a full competitiveness benchmarking exercise to be completed by an accredited benchmark facilitator, with an additional 2 days for the company to develop a strategy to address the improvement opportunities highlighted by the exercise.

The costs of accessing the international databases are borne by Enterprise Ireland.
